2009 GROUND HOG CHILI & BBQ COOKOFF
"Get your Phil of Chili & Barbeque"

Palm Desert, CA 92211.
Benefitting VARIETY, the Childrens Charity
A combined event Sanctioned by the ICS and IBCA.
ICS Events are Red Chili, Chili Verde, Salsa, Peoples Choice Chili and Booth.
IBCA Events are Pork, other than Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, Pork Spare Ribs,
IBCA cooks may set-up after 4:00 pm on Friday Night in the Employee Parking Lot.
RV Street Parking, No Hookups will be available.
As of 12/20/2008 we are adding the "Peoples Choice" meat sampling for the BBQ Cooks.
this will be similar to "Stagecoach or La Quinta.

HOTEL Information.
We recommend these Hotels within 3 miles (7 minutes) of Palm Desert Country Club.
"FIRE MARSHAL RECOMENDATIONS;
Each Booth should have one (1) 2A:10B:C Fire Extinguisher
(Most cooks already have this, They are available at LOWES home
Improvement Stores for about $25.00). We will provide some Fire Extinguishers within the event area.
"COUNTY HEALTH RECOMENDATIONS;
CLEAN & SANITIZE UTENSILS:
Three Compartment Sink, Wash, Rinse, & Sanitize OR
Extra utensils for each booth area.
FOOD TEMPERATURE CONTROL & STORAGE:
COLD HOLDING, Must be maintained at or below 41 degrees F.
HOT HOLDING & Serving, Must be at 135 degrees F. or above.
BBQ MEAT PREP: If you are using rubs etc. prior to the cooking, all preparation must be within a Screened area. We will provide a small Screened area that can be shared by the BBQ cooks. It is advised that you bring your own Screened tent due to the size we can provide.
CLEAN UP:
All Cooks, Chili & BBQ, are responsible for removal of All trash from their competition area, including; grey water, ashes, etc.
There will be numerous Trash recepticals throughout the Event area. (NO HOT ASHES)
"International Chili Society Info" This is a District Cookoff with the Winner advancing to Last Chance 2009.
"2009 Booth Signups" As we receive the application we will post that
information here. Only 25 Chili Booths are available AND only 27 Barbeque Pits (Booths)
are available. If you are competing in Both Chili & Barbeque, you should have enough room within
the alloted booth space. Chili Booth size is 10' x 18' Deep (10' frontage), BBQ Booth size is 20' x 18' deep.
